NCT mum & baby

The NCT (National Childbirth Trust) is famous for its antenatal courses – their quality is second-to-none, and mums-to-be find them a great way to meet other mums in the area.  Your local branch of the NCT runs lots of courses throughout the area, so there really is a great range to choose from.  There are two types of courses available – Signature, an in-depth course which is in part tailored by the group attending it, and Essentials, which covers six essential themes.  For more specialist interests, there is also a Home Birth Group and Water Birth Workshops.  The NCT now also runs Relax, Stretch & Breathe (Yoga-Based) classes for pregnant women.  All the courses and classes are run by specially trained practitioners, who are extremely experienced, friendly and passionate about supporting parents through pregnancy, birth and beyond.

There are also Refresher antenatal courses and many parenting courses available in the area, including Early Days (Postnatal), Introducing Solids (Weaning), and Baby First Aid Courses, the latter being run in conjunction with the British Red Cross.  For breastfeeding mums, there are a number of free drop-ins, where help can be sought and any questions answered.  As well as this, the local branch organise a whole host of events and meet-ups:

Bumps & Babies – every Friday in Isleworth and every Wednesday in Hampton Hill; Coffee mornings – regularly throughout the area; Nearly New Sales – four a year at All Hallows in Twickenham; Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party – usually at The Little Gym in Hampton Hill during the summer; Children’s Parties – usually at Halloween and Christmas in St Margaret’s; Family Expo – an annual event in Twickenham.
