Little Bear Creative

Little Bear CreativeLittle Bear Creative makes beautiful handmade chalkboards and signs for all occasions. It’s the creation of Shalma, mum to Ollie and local mum living in St Margarets. Before founding Little Bear Creative, Shalma spent most of her career working in customer service and sales, until she was made redundant after her maternity leave and it was then that she discovered her true passion!

Little Bear CreativeThe idea was born when Shalma started making a birthday chalkboard for her son’s first birthday. She’d always been creative and enjoyed crafting, so it came quite naturally and she was really pleased with the results. The chalkboard was such a hit with Shalma’s friends that she started making them for their children too, and word started to spread. Little Bear Creative launched after this in April 2015 from the corner of Shalma’s living room, and she now makes a variety of signs for all occasions.

Little Bear CreativeLittle Bear Creative’s bestseller is the birthday chalkboard for children. Shalma works closely with parents to design a bespoke, hand-painted keepsake which has all the important personality traits, passions and milestones the child has demonstrated in that year. She tailors the layout, colours, size and information, so each gift is truly tailored to the child – and totally unique.

Little Bear CreativeLittle Bear Creative also makes wall planners for the kitchen, name plaques and personalised chalkboards for bedrooms. Shalma even recently produced her first commercial job for a coffee shop, designing and painting menus and the shop front sign. Little Bear Creative can also help with all kinds of parties and events. For a recent wedding, Shalma made a large A1 seating plan, cocktail menu, name cards for the table, and a favour board.

Little Bear Creative sources materials from a UK carpenter, and every board is treated and sealed with water resistant paint. The boards are then priced individually depending on size and complexity. For more information, take a look at the Little Bear Creative website where there is a gallery of signs they have previously created, or follow them on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter to keep up to date with where you can find them at pop-up shops and fairs.
