February half term

Almost half-term already… how did that happen?! If you’re looking for ways to entertain the kids, we’ve pulled together a listing of holiday camps and activities that are going on in the area. The listing is divided into half-term activities that you generally do together as a family, and drop-off camps and workshops which range from a couple of hours to a full day. We’re still in the process of adding things as and when we hear about them, so if you know of any more please do get in touch and let us know. FAMILY ACTIVITIES

Ham House

15th to 23rd February, 12.00-4.00pm: Poetree at Ham House. Sit beneath the ‘Poetree’, find your inspiration, and add your creation to its branches. Explore and create this half term with a family trail that calls you to use your senses to discover what inspires you. Feel words, notice sounds and find your inspiration in the beauty all around you at Ham House and Garden. Sensory trail for children £2.00 plus normal admission charges apply.

Hampton Court Palace

15th to 23rd February, 11.00am-4.00pm: Elizabeth I & Her Spymasters at Hampton Court Palace in East Molesey. Queen Elizabeth I’s spymasters are back at Hampton Court Palace with more clues to solve, evidence to uncover and treasonous conspiracies to stop. There is a new threat to the Queen’s throne from her closest courtiers and relatives. Elizabeth has chosen not to marry and hasn’t named an heir, but her courtiers think they may have a solution. Become a spy, meet Elizabeth’s courtiers and listen in on secret conversations. Find out who is not to be trusted and who gets into trouble for being disloyal to the Queen. Help her to decide their punishment! Schedule of activities throughout the day around the Palace. Included in normal admission.

London Museum Of Water And Steam

15th to 23rd February, 10.00am-4.00pm: Science Week at the London Museum Of Water & Steam, Green Dragon Lane in Brentford. This half term, visit the London Museum of Water & Steam for sciencey fun!Watch the fantastic all new Wet and Bubbly Science Show, everyday at 2.00pm. Build your own mega tower with loads of different materials. Join in with story time, weekdays at 11.00am. Find the science facts hidden around the Museum. They will also be hosting the Association of 16mm Railway Gauge Modellers, who will be in the Museum from the 15th-20th. This is a brilliant chance to see model locomotives up close in steam in the Steam Hall. Normal entry fees apply. Plus KIDS GO FREE and adults only £10.00 with Twick Mums! London Wetland Centre

15th to 23rd February, 9.30am-4.30pm: Puddle Jumping Championships at the London Wetland Centre, Queen Elizabeth’s Walk in Barnes. Splashing, muddy fun this February Half term! Come rain or shine, the Puddle Jumping Championships is the perfect activity for the whole family. Put on your wellies, get out into nature, get muddy and have a splashing time! Take on the challenge of the Puddle Jumping obstacle course, competing against your family and friends to see who can make the biggest splash. Normal admission charges apply.

Osterley Park

15th to 23rd February, 11.00am-3.00pm: The Tiger Who Came To Tea at Osterley Park & House, Jersey Road in Isleworth. Judith Kerr’s much loved 1968 classic will be brought to life at Osterley this winter, complete with a life size tiger to cuddle and displays of illustrations to delight all tiger-loving generations. The exhibition features displays of Judith Kerr’s illustrations and gives children the chance to step into Sophie’s kitchen to have tea with the tiger himself. Children will also get involved with crafts and dressing up. Normal admission charges apply, and it is advisable to book a time slot.

Squires Garden Centre

17th to 21st February, 10.00am-4.00pm: ‘Create & Grow’ Half-Term at Squires Garden Centre, Sixth Cross Road in Twickenham. Paint a Ceramic Bird Feeder to help attract wild birds to your garden this spring (£4.75), Look for clues around the centre to help find the magic word and be in with a chance to win a prize (free). Help Hazel the squirrel complete the paper Spring Flower Maze and receive a sticker (free). Drop-in events, while stocks last.

Boundless Dance

For children aged 4.5 to 16 years.

These ‘Musical Madness’ workshops take place at the Teddington Methodist Church, Stanley Road in Teddington. The workshops are fun-filled and cater for all abilities. They focus on developing your child’s aptitude in the three main genres of performance – acting, dancing and singing – and are run by professional west-end practitioners.

The workshops take place between 17th – 19th February, from 10.00am-2.00pm. The cost for one day is £20.00, or  it costs £37.50 for two days or £50.00 for all three days. There is a registration form online, or please call 07951 305935 or email info@boundlessdance.co.uk.

Brilliant Play Solutions Forest Crafts

For children from 4 to 11 years.

These forest craft camps take place at The Wilderness in Hampton Wick School. Children will take part in a two-hour nature based craft and play session.

The forest craft camps take place between 18th – 20th February, from 9.30-11.30am, 12.00-2.00pm or 2.30-4.30pm. The cost is £16.00 per session. You can book via their website.

Camp England

For children from 5 to 15 years old.

These camps are held at NPL Tennis Club, Queens Road in Teddington, at The German School, Petersham Road in Richmond and at Hampton School, Hanworth Road in Hampton. At Teddington, children can choose from tennis or multi-sports camps with lots of activities to choose from. At Richmond, children can choose from multi-sports or gymnastics (acro, artistic & freestyle) camps. At Hampton, there are tennis camps to give children the opportunity to make lots of friends and make rapid progress with their game.

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February, from 10.00am-4.00pm (tennis) or 8.30am-4.30pm (multi-sports). The daily cost is £32.95, with a discount available for booking a week. You can book via their website.

Collis Activity Camp

For children in Reception up to Year 8.

These camps are held at Collis School, Fairfax Road in Teddington. Children can participate in a wide range of fun activities such as bouncy castles, go-karts, art, computing, crazy golf, dodge ball, swimming, carnival day, bumper boats, circus skills, Wii Dance, bingo, plus lots, lots more!

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February, from 9.00am-5.00pm with the option to extend from 8.30am-6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £38.00, with a discount available for booking a week. You can book via their website.

Elizabeth Samuels Drama

For children aged 4 to 14 years.

This five-day ‘show in a week’ takes place at Orleans Park Secondary School, Richmond Road in Twickenham. Children will take part in an exciting and fun week of rehearsals, ending with an enchanting performance of a timeless classic: Peter Rabbit for children aged 4-11yrs and Dracula for children aged 11-14yrs.

The ‘show in a week’ takes place between 17th – 21st February, from 9.00am-3.30pm Monday to Thursday and in the afternoon on Friday for the performance. The cost for the week is £165.00. You can book online.

Happy Potter

For children aged 6+ years

These workshops take place at Happy Potter, Broad Street in Teddington. Children will enjoy exciting crafts, with different creative activities taking place on different days. Monday: pottery painting using sponges and flicking techniques to create an amazing lantern; Tuesday: make your own self portrait from scratch using clay; Wednesday: take home your own potted mini succulent plant made from scratch using a cereal box; Thursday: make a hanging paper bunting with your own name; and Friday: collage a trophy style stag head to hang on the wall.

The workshops take place between 17th – 21st February, from 10.30am-12.00pm. The cost is £25.00 per child including lunch. You can book online.

KidsCoach

For children in Reception up to Year 8.

These camps take place at Marble Hill Park in Twickenham. They are the perfect way for children to get out into the fresh air for some football fun, and will take place whatever the weather (dress the kids accordingly!). The sessions are split according to age, with lots of match time and skill-based games and drills.

KOOSA Kids

For children aged 4 to 13 years.

These camps take place at Orleans Park School, Richmond Road in Twickenham; Teddington Sports Centre, Broom Road in Teddington; Whitton Sports Centre, Percy Road in Whitton; St Mary’s Primary School, Oldfield Road in Hampton; and Shene Sports Centre, Park Avenue in East Sheen. Children will enjoy five days with a World Explorers theme, with their days packed full of fun, craft and sporting activities.

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February, from 10.00am-4.00pm, with the option to extend from 8.15am-6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £21.50, with a discount available for booking the whole week. If you have three children, the 3rd child goes absolutely free! The Little Gym Chiswick

For children aged 3 to 12 years.

These camps take place at The Little Gym, Hartington Road in Chiswick (just off the A316). They include super quest camps for 3-8yrs, full of exciting creative missions that will exercise muscle, imaginations and cooperation skills; fun skill thrill camps for 6-12yrs that will take your child’s gymnastic skills to the next level; as well as a dance camp (3-12yrs) and karate camp (4-12yrs).

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February, from 9.30am-12.30pm or 1.30-4.30pm, with the option to extend to include lunch, or to stay for the whole day. The cost for a half-day camp is £48.00 for non-members. For more information or to book, call 020 8994 3729.

The Little Gym Hampton & Teddington

For children aged 3 to 12 years.

These camps take place at The Little Gym, High Street in Hampton Hill. They include super quest camps for 3-8yrs, full of exciting creative missions that will exercise muscle, imaginations and cooperation skills; and fun skill thrill camps for 5-12yrs that will take your child’s gymnastic skills to the next level.

Robonext

For children aged 8 to 14 years.

This two-day camp takes place at Orleans Park School, Richmond Road in Twickenham. Children will be grouped based on their age and prior exposure of robotics and programming to ensure they get the best learning and exposure from the camp. They get exposure to up to five different robotics platforms with a focus on physical and software aspects of robotics. Examples of activities include assembling and programming a drone; building a robot; and exploring the world of sensors and motors with advanced Lego platform.

The two-day camp takes place on the 17th & 18th February, from 10.00am-4.00pm. The cost is £100.00 for both days. You can book online. 

Scamps Holiday Club

For children aged 3 to 12 years.

These camps take place at Scamps, Strathmore Road in Teddington. They offer a fun filled experience, with activities changed daily with over 200 different ideas, games and experiences which are guaranteed to keep your children amused, stimulated and happy all day long.

The camps take place on weekdays between 17th – 24th February, with four differently timed sessions available between the hours of 7.30am-6.00pm. The basic cost ranges from £27.00 to £40.00, depending on the length of the session. You can download a booking form from their website.

Sheen Parks Tennis

For children aged 2 to 12 years.

These three-day camps take place at Sheen Common, Fife Road in East Sheen; King George’s Field, at Ham Street in Ham; and at Cambridge Gardens, Clevedon Road in East Twickenham. These fun packed holiday camps are for children of all abilities to help develop essential tennis skills.

The three-day camps take place between 17th – 19th February, with half hour sessions for tots (3/4yrs), and 2-3.5hr sessions for older children (5-15yrs) each day. Tots camps cost £27.00 for all three days, and the camps for older children cost £95.00-£115.00 for all three days, depending on the length of the camp. You can book online.

Springboard Swimmers

For children aged 3 to 7 years.

These intensive courses take place at Stanley School, Strathmore Road in Teddington; and at St Richard’s School, Woodville Road in Richmond. They are aimed at non-swimmers and beginners; children needing stroke improvement. If you haven’t done a holiday intensive course before, you will be amazed at how much progress is made in one week!

The intensive courses take place between 17th – 21st February with a half-hour slot at the same time each day, with the same tutor and the same group of three children. SuperCamps

For children aged 4 to 12 years.

These camps take place at The Green School, London Road in Isleworth. Children will enjoy multi-sports camps with an abundance of fun activities inside and out, split by age group.

These camps take place between 17th – 21st February, from 9.00am-5.00pm with the option to extend from 8.00am-6.00pm. They cost £46.00 per day, with a discount available for booking the whole week. You can book online.

Teddington Hockey Academy

For children aged 

These camps take place at Teddington Hockey Club at Teddington School, Broom Road in Teddington. Children will. Learn a new sport or improve their skills and tricks.

The camps takes place between 17th – 19th February, from 9.30am-3.30pm or from 9.30am-12.30pm for a half day. The cost is £40.00 per day or £25.00 for a half day, with a discount available for booking all three days. You can book online.

Thames Young Mariners Adventure Zone

For children from 6 to 13 years.

These camps take place at Thames Young Mariners, Riverside Drive in Ham. There are Young Explorers camps for 6/7yrs focussing on different team challenges through the week, and Multi-Activity camps for 8-13yrs, with activities such as archery, climbing, team tasks and woodland skills.

The camps take place between 17th – 21st February, from 9.30am-4.30pm. The camps cost £47.00 per day. You can book online.

York House Gardens Tennis

For children aged 5 to 12 years.

This three-day camp takes place at York House Gardens, Sion Road in Twickenham. Children will take part in various games and training to improve their agility, balance and coordination, and will focus on shots, technique and tactics using game play and competition (suitable for all abilities).
