October Half Term Halloween

Almost half-term already… how did that happen?! If you’re looking for ways to entertain the kids, we’ve pulled together a listing of holiday camps and activities that are going on in the area. The listing is divided into half-term activities that you generally do together as a family, and drop-off camps and workshops which range from a couple of hours to a full day. We’re still in the process of adding things as and when we hear about them, so if you know of any more please do get in touch and let us know. FAMILY ACTIVITIES

Ham House

20th to 28th October, 10.00am-5.00pm: Halloween Hocus Pocus: Ghoulish Ghosts & Wicked Witches at Ham House. Halloween half term fun! Take part in a Witch Hunt throughout the house and garden. Unravel the mysteries of witchcraft in the 17th century and decide for yourself if Ham’s own Duchess was a witch. There’s spooky storytelling, pumpkin biscuit decorating and eerie art to enjoy. Normal admission charges apply. Terrible Tudor Tours also take place 22nd to 26th October, mainly 5.00-6.00pm. Discover spooky goings on with ghostly tours in the dark; find out about the resident ghost dog and visits from owners of the past (£15.00 per person).

Hampton Court Palace

20th to 28th October, 11.00am-4.00pm: Beast Quest at Hampton Court Palace in East Molesey. An exciting event for the whole family! The Dark Wizard Malvel has taken over Hampton Court Palace, bringing all of its resident Beasts to life (as well as some famous faces from history!). Now Tom and Elenna need your help to save the Hampton Court Beasts from his wicked spells. You’ll be guided by the resident Questers, and will need to work together as a team, solving puzzles, riddles and games, all while evil stalks the historic palace. See a cockentrice brought to life in the Tudor kitchens and scuffle with a dragon to secure its scale! Will you help defeat Malvel? Will you take up the mantle of Beast Quester? Included in normal admission.

Hounslow Urban Farm

20th to 28th October, 10.00am-5.00pm: Halloween fun at the The Hounslow Urban Farm, Faggs Road in Feltham. As well as all the regular attractions of the Farm, children can enjoy ghost train rides, fairground rides, spooky animal encounters, toasted marshmallows and biscuit making. Normal entry fees apply.

Kew Gardens

20th to 28th October, various times: Siyanda, Protector of Plants at Kew Gardens. Join enchanting Siyanda as she unearths the secrets of plants in the Africa zone of the newly-restored Temperate House. In a 30-minute performance, Siyanda will take you on a journey of discovery, learning about the plants in her care. She’ll reveal how she helps them to thrive and why protecting these plants is so vital. Click here for performance times. Normal admission charges apply.

London Museum Of Water And Steam

20th to 28th October, 10.00am-4.00pm: SpOOkfest at the London Museum Of Water & Steam, Green Dragon Lane in Brentford. Experience a truly hair-raising half-term with the Museum’s annual Halloween SpOOkfest. Children can follow the creepy creatures trail, take part in gruesome crafts, and brave the Museum’s ghost train which will be running every day. Learn all about the wonderful world of water in the Waterworks Gallery and Splash Zone, and find out about the Museum’s site and the people and engines who helped make London the city it is today. Make a day of it with a picnic in the garden, some terrifying treats in the cafe and some suitably spooky gifts from the shop. Normal entry fees apply. London Wetland Centre

6th October to 18th November, 9.30am-4.30pm: Giant Lego Brick Animal Trail at the London Wetland Centre, Queen Elizabeth’s Walk in Barnes. The amazing Giant LEGO® brick animals are back with three NEW friends – Sam the short-eared owl, Walter the water vole and Skye the stork. This autumn, come along to meet the new animals and book a place on one of our LEGO workshops – you’ll get to build your own miniature version of Sam the short-eared owl to take home! Normal admission charges apply. Lego workshops also take place at the weekends and every day over half-term. Take part in exciting challenges and build your very own miniature version of Sam the short-eared owl to take home (£10.50 per person) – booking essential. 

Osterley Park

20th to 28th October, 11.00am-4.00pm: Halloween Pumpkin Festival: Osterley’s Enchanted Pumpkins at Osterley Park & House, Jersey Road in Isleworth. Calling all witches and wizards! Osterley’s pumpkins have been enchanted and they need your help to save them. Follow the magical trail left around the gardens and House while completing spooky activities, from potions to broomstick flying. Break the spell and save the pumpkins, then carve your own pumpkin to take home. Normal admission charges apply plus trail costs £4.00 (includes a pumpkin).

Squires Garden Centre

22nd to 31st October, 10.00am-4.00pm: ‘Create & Grow’ Spooky Half-Term at Squires Garden Centre, Sixth Cross Road in Twickenham. Keep your little ghouls entertained this half-term. Paint a ceramic bat tealight holder (£5.50); decorate a spooky mobile (£3.50); or take part in the pumpkin pursuit around the centre to be in with a chance to win a prize (free). Drop-in events, while stocks last.

 

DROP OFF CAMPS

Best Tennis

For children aged 3 to 14 years.

These camps take place at Old Deer Park Tennis Courts, Pools On The Park, Twickenham Road in Richmond, and at Hampton Sports Centre, Hampton High School, Hanworth Road in Hampton. They offer fun packed tennis camps with a combination of technical learning, matchplay and games. Older children can book the whole day, which will include tennis with netball. Player to coach ratios are always kept low.

The camps take place weekdays between 22nd October – 2nd November. Details vary depending on location: Richmond: 11.30am-12.15pm for 3-5yrs; 9.00-11.30am for 6-9yrs; or 12.30–3.00pm for 9-14yrs; Hampton: 10.00-10.45am for 3-5yrs; 11.00am-12.00pm for 6-9yrs. The camps cost £12.00 per day for 3-5yrs, or £12.00 per day for 6-9yrs (Hampton), or £25.00 per day for 6-14yrs (Richmond), with a discount available for booking the whole week. Boundless Dance

For children aged 5 to 16 years.

These ‘Musical Madness’ workshops take place at Teddington Methodist Church, Stanley Road in Teddington. The workshops are fun-filled and cater for all abilities. They focus on developing your child’s aptitude in the three main genres of performance – acting, dancing and singing – and are run by professional west-end practitioners.

Brilliant Play Solutions Forest School

For children from 4 to 11 years.

This forest school camp take place at The Wilderness in Hampton Wick School. Children will take part in a range of activities including natural art, mini beast safari, fun challenges, cooking on the fire and more!

The forest school camp take place between 24th – 26th October, from 10.00am-2.00pm. The cost is £30.00 per day. You can book via their website.

Camp England

For children from 5 to 15 years old.

These camps are held at NPL Tennis Club, Queens Road in Teddington and at Hampton School, Hanworth Road in Hampton. At Teddington, children can choose from tennis or multi-sports camps with lots of activities to choose from. At Hampton, there are tennis camps to give children the opportunity to make lots of friends and make rapid progress with their game.

The camps take place weekdays between 22nd October – 2nd November, from 10.00am-4.00pm (tennis) or 8.30am-4.30pm (multi-sports). The daily cost is £32.95, with a discount available for booking a week. You can book via their website.

Collis Activity Camp

For children in Reception up to Year 8.

These camps are held at Collis School, Fairfax Road in Teddington. Children can participate in a wide range of  fun activities, such as bouncy castles, go-karts, art, computing, crazy golf, dodge ball, swimming, carnival day, bumper boats, circus skills, Wii dance, bingo, plus lots, lots more!

The camps take place between 22nd – 26th October, from 9.00am-5.00pm with the option to extend from 8.30am-6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £38.00, with a discount available for booking a week. You can book via their website.

Cypher Coders

For children aged 4 to 14 years.

These camps take place at the Greenwood Centre, School Road in Hampton Hill. Children will take part in ‘Future Reality’ activities, with virtual reality games, augmented reality apps, and mixed reality displays. A week of star gazing, goggles, crypto currency and jam robots!

The camps take place between 23rd – 26th October, from 10.00am-4.00pm. The cost is £110.00 per day, with discounts for booking two or more days. You can book via their website.

Dragon Drama

For children aged 5 to 10 years.

This three-day workshop takes place at the Normansfield Theatre, Langdon Down Centre, Langdon Park in Teddington. Children will enjoy an immersive event to truly explore all the fun elements of Halloween in ‘Badjelly the Witch Rides Again’ – a tribute to Spike Milligan. It will be filled with secrets and surprises in the world of the irreverent Badjelly the Witch, giving children a creative experience they will never forget as they take to their broomsticks, high in the sky of their imaginations.

Dreamcatcher Film Camps

For children aged 8 to 18 years.

This five-day camp takes place at Falcons Prep School, Kew Foot Road in Richmond. Children will make their very own short film over five days and take a copy home on DVD. They will come up with their own idea for a film, then set about scripting, story boarding, shooting, directing and editing it under expert tuition from industry professionals. It’s all great fun but good learning too, and young wannabe filmmakers finish the course equipped to make their own movies.

The five-day camp takes place between 22nd – 26th October, from 9.00am-2.00pm. The cost for all five days is £275.00, with a sibling discount available. You can book online.

Happy Potter

For children aged 6+ years

These workshops take place at Happy Potter, Broad Street in Teddington. Children will enjoy 2hrs of fun and creative activities including lino printing, decopatch, tie-dye, mug painting, pom poms, mask making and tote bag design, with different creative activities taking place on different days.

The workshops take place on 23rd – 26th October, from 10.30am-12.30pm. The cost is £25.00 per child including lunch. You can book online.

KidsCoach

For children in Reception up to Year 8.

These camps take place at Marble Hill Park in Twickenham. They are the perfect way for children to get out into the fresh air for some football fun, and will take place whatever the weather (dress the kids accordingly!). The sessions are split according to age, with lots of match time and skill-based games and drills.

KOOSA Kids

For children aged 4 to 13 years.

These camps take place at Orleans Park School, Richmond Road in Twickenham; Teddington Sports Centre, Broom Road in Teddington; Whitton Sports Centre, Percy Road in Whitton; and Shene Sports Centre, Park Avenue in East Sheen. Children will enjoy five days of Spooktacular FUN, taking part in Whizzing Witches, Ghastly Drawing, Bats Nest’s Ball, Ghost Busters, Chilling Crossbows and much, much more.

The camps take place between 22nd – 26th October, from 10.00am-4.00pm, with the option to extend from 8.15am-6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £21.00, with a discount available for booking the whole week. If you have three children, the 3rd child goes absolutely free! Landmark Arts Centre

For children aged 8 to 14 years.

This workshop take place at the Landmark Arts Centre, Ferry Road in Teddington. Children will create a decorative ‘Day of the Dead’ mask with a choice of flowers or top hat. They will use collage, paint and construction skills to make a dramatic costume piece, led by the fantastic Ace Art.

Lions Sports Academy

For boys and girls aged 6 to 12 years.

These camps take place at Teddington Rugby Club in Bushy Park. Children will enjoy specially tailored and professionally implemented sessions, helping them achieve their rugby goals through coaching strategies, goal-setting and help from professional and ex-professional players, all the while being helped and encouraged by Lions’ coaching staff..

The camps take place between 23rd – 25th October from 9.00am-4.00pm. The camps cost £42.00 per day or £114.00 for all three days. You can book online.

The Little Gym Chiswick

For children aged 3 to 12 years.

These camps take place at The Little Gym, Hartington Road in Chiswick (just off the A316). They include super quest camps for 3-8yrs, full of exciting creative missions that will exercise muscle, imaginations and cooperation skills; fun skill thrill camps for 5-12yrs that will take your child’s gymnastic skills to the next level; as well as dance camps (3-8yrs) and karate camps (4-10yrs).

The camps take place between 22nd – 26th October, from 9.30am-12.30pm or 1.30-4.30pm, with the option to extend to include lunch, or to stay for the whole day. The basic 3hr cost is £48.00 for non-members, or £42.00 for members. To book, call 020 8994 3729.

The Little Gym Hampton & Teddington

For children aged 3 to 12 years.

These camps take place at The Little Gym, High Street in Hampton Hill. They include super quest camps for 3-8yrs, full of exciting creative missions that will exercise muscle, imaginations and cooperation skills; and fun skill thrill camps for 5-12yrs that will take your child’s gymnastic skills to the next level.

The camps take place between 22nd – 25th October, from 9.30am-12.30pm (3-8yrs) and from 1.30-4.30pm (5-12yrs), with the option to extend to include lunch, or to stay for the whole day. The cost is £36.00 for non-members or £32.00 for members. To book, call 020 8977 0099.

Mother Nature Science

For children aged 5 to 12 years old.

These camps take place at The Queen’s School, Cumberland Road in Kew. Children will enjoy five days of spooky Halloween-themed activities, including a great mixture of exciting demonstrations, hands-on experiments, team games and fun quizzes across chemistry, biology and physics. Over the week your child will do 30+ science activities and demonstrations.

The camps take place between 22nd – 26th October, from 9.00am-3.30pm, with the option to extend from 8.30am-4.00pm. The basic daily cost is £60.00, or £245.00 for the week (limited availability for daily places). You can book online or by calling 020 8863 8832.

Orleans House Gallery

For children aged 4 to 10 years.

These workshops take place at Orleans House Gallery, Riverside in Twickenham. They offer a number of full and half day workshops, working with different artists specialising in a variety of techniques and materials.

The workshops take place between 22nd – 25th October, with full day workshops from 10.00am-3.00pm and short workshops from 10.00am-12.00pm. The cost for a full day workshop is £32.00 and a short workshop is £14.00. You can book online.

Scamps Holiday Club

For children aged 3 to 12 years.

These camps take place at Scamps, Strathmore Road in Teddington. They offer a fun filled experience, with activities changed daily with over 200 different ideas, games and experiences which are guaranteed to keep your children amused, stimulated and happy all day long.

The camps take place between 22nd – 26th October, with six differently timed sessions available between the hours of 8.00am-6.00pm. The basic cost ranges from £23.00 to £37.00, depending on the length of the session, with various discounts available. You can download a booking form from their website.

Sheen Parks Tennis

For children aged 3 to 16 years.

These camps take place at Palewell Common and Sheen Common in East Sheen; and at Cambridge Gardens, Clevedon Road in East Twickenham. These fun packed holiday camps are for children of all abilities to help develop essential tennis skills.

The camps take place between 22nd – 26th October, with half hour sessions for tots (3/4yrs), and 2hr sessions for minis (5-8yrs), and 3hr or whole-day sessions for minis/juniors (5-16yrs). Tots camps cost £9.25 per day, 2hr camps cost £22.00 per day, 3hr camps cost £33.00 per day, and a whole day costs £66.00. There is a discount available for booking the whole week. Springboard Swimmers

For children aged 3 to 7 years.

These intensive courses take place at Stanley School, Strathmore Road in Teddington; and at St Richard’s School, Woodville Road in Richmond. They are aimed at non-swimmers and beginners; children needing stroke improvement. If you haven’t done a holiday intensive course before, you will be amazed at how much progress is made in one week!

The intensive courses take place between 22nd – 26th October, with a half-hour slot at the same time each day, with the same tutor and the same group of three children. The cost is £60.00 per child for the week. To book, download an application form and email it to admin@springboardswimmers.com to arrange the most appropriate time and group.

Stagecoach

For children aged 4 to 18 years.

These five-day workshops takes place at Stanley Junior School, Strathmore Road in Teddington. Children aged 4-6yrs can have fun in their spooky costumes dancing, singing and acting for a whole week. Children aged 6-18yrs will be making up spooky, scary songs, dances and drama in a week of hobgoblins, potions and pumpkins.

The five-day workshops take place between 22nd – 26th October, from 9.30am-1.30pm (4-6yrs) or 10.00am-4.00pm (6-18yrs). The workshops cost £135.00 for 4-6yrs and £165.00 for 6-18yrs. You can book online.

Thames Young Mariners Adventure Zone

For children from 6 to 16 years.

These camps take place at Thames Young Mariners, Riverside Drive in Ham. There are Young Explorers camps for 6/7yrs focussing on different team challenges through the week, and Multi-Activity camps for 8-16yrs (split into juniors and seniors), with activities such as archery, climbing, team tasks and woodland skills. Sailing and paddlesports courses are also available.

The camps take place between 22nd – 26th October, from 9.30am-4.30pm. The Young Explorers camps are £45.00 per day; the Multi-Activity camps are £90.00 for two days or £135 for three days. You can book online.

We Make Footballers 

For children aged 4 to 12 years.

These camps take place at St Mary’s University, Teddington Lock Campus. The camps are tailored according to the varying children’s ages and abilities who attend, whether they want to have fun and learn some basics or seriously develop their skills.

The camps take place between 22nd – 26th October, from 9.30am-3.30pm. The camps cost £27.00 per day with a discount available for booking the whole week. You can book online.

White Rabbit Drama Club

For children aged 5 to 9 years.

This three-day club takes place at St Mary’s Church Hall, Church Street in Twickenham. Children will join a world of witches & sorcerers, kings & queens, mysterious helpers, brave children, talking animals and fairy godmothers as they enter the woods with a band of merry rabbits! Inspired by the stories and characters of the Brothers Grimm, they will set off on an adventure of mystery, magic, daring deeds and edible accommodation.

YMCA Hawker Wild Play Days

For children aged 4 to 11 years.

These play days takes place at YMCA Hawker, Lower Ham Road (junction with Richmond Road) in Kingston. Younger children 4-7yrs will build shelters, discover nature, create woodland art and breathe Mother Nature’s good stuff, whilst being based out of the YMCA’s new teepee. Older children 7-11yrs will visit a different location each day to explore woods, and enjoy the freedom of outdoor play.

The play days take place between 22nd – 25th October, from 8.30am-4.30pm with the option to extend to 6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £30.00, with Wednesday (trip day) costing £40.00. You can book online.

York House Gardens Tennis

For children aged 3 to 14 years.

This five-day camp takes place at York House Gardens, Sion Road in Twickenham. Children will take part in various games and training to improve their agility, balance and coordination. Older age groups begin to focus more on shots, technique and tactics using game play and competition (suitable for all abilities).

The five-day camp takes place between 22nd – 26th October with different time slots for different age groups: 3-4yrs 9.30-10.00am; 5-8yrs 10.00am-12.00pm; 9-14yrs 1.00-3.00pm. The cost is £42.50 for the tots camp and £120.00 for other camps for all five days. You can book online.
