February half term

Almost half-term already… how did that happen?! If you’re looking for ways to entertain the kids, we’ve pulled together a listing of holiday camps and activities that are going on in the area. The listing is divided into half-term activities that you generally do together as a family, and drop-off camps and workshops which range from a couple of hours to a full day. We’re still in the process of adding things as and when we hear about them, so if you know of any more please do get in touch and let us know. FAMILY ACTIVITIES

 

Ham House

10th to 18th February, 10.00am-5.00pm: Ham Un-Locked at Ham House. Unlock the secrets of the seventeenth century residents at Ham House with fun for families and grown-ups alike. Children can take part in our ‘Ham unlocked’ children’s trail and grown-ups can visit our mini exhibition in the house. Normal admission charges apply.

Hampton Court Palace

10th to 18th February, 11.00am-4.00pm: The Great Palace Quest at Hampton Court Palace in East Molesey. A fun activity trail map that takes families on a time-travelling voyage of discovery searching for the Palace Quest code letters. Your mission is find out about the court of Queen Katherine Parr and Henry VIII’s children, Prince Edward and Lady Elizabeth. The palace will be filled with beautiful singing, music, dancing and much more. Work out what the code word is to win your prize! Included in normal admission.

Hounslow Urban Farm

10th to 18th February, 10.00am-5.00pm: Half term fun at the The Hounslow Urban Farm, Faggs Road in Feltham. There’s always lots going on at the farm throughout the year, and half term is a great chance to visit! Children can enjoy animal encounters, feeding the animals, owl display, pig meet & greets, and indoor  bouncy castle and outdoor play area. Normal entry fees apply.

Kew Gardens

10th to 18th February, 10.30am-3.30pm: February Half-Term at Kew Gardens. Enjoy hands-on activities for all the family as part of Kew’s Orchids Festival. Roll up your sleeves and enjoy producing plant dyes and testing them on silk. Perfect for all dressing-up fans, the chance to try on some new clothes, whilst learning about Thai traditional dress. Discover more about the plants behind the exotic tastes of Thai cuisine, and find out where you can see rice, bananas and members of the ginger family growing at Kew. Normal admission charges apply.

Landmark Arts Centre

10th to 14th February, various times. Half term entertainment at the Landmark Arts Centre, Ferry Road in Teddington. As well a ‘Paddington’ concert and cinema show ‘Honey I Shrunk The Kids’, there will be kids art workshops inspired by Damien Hurst; and a children’s book reading, activity workshop & feather hunt for families linked to the book ‘Parrots Don’t Live In The City’. London Museum Of Water And Steam

10th to 18th February, 10.00am-4.00pm: Spectacular Science Week at the London Museum Of Water & Steam, Green Dragon Lane in Brentford. All week, there will be a brand new electricity-themed children’s trail and plenty of science-based crafts to get involved in. The Waterworks Railway will be running from the 11th, and from the 12th-16th will also be running ‘Coal, Steam & Speed’ sessions at 12.30pm & 2.00pm, where children will learn all about how coal makes steam and a very clever man called George Stephenson, who understood that using steam to power railway engines would change the way we lived forever. Over both weekends (10th/11th & 17th/18th), the Museum is also welcoming back Mad Science, who this time will be exploring electricity, in anticipation of the opening of the Museum’s new Electric House Gallery at Easter. Mad Science shows will run at 2.00pm on these dates, with electricity-based experiments that will make your hair stand on end! Normal entry fees apply. London Wetland Centre

10th to 18th February, 9.30am-4.30pm: Puddle Jumping Championships at the London Wetland Centre, Queen Elizabeth’s Walk in Barnes. Children of all ages can grab their wellies and have fun jumping in puddles in the fresh air. Take your wellies and wet weather gear and have a splashing time! Use your imagination to create the biggest, most exciting splash. Throw some shapes in the air for extra style! Normal admission charges apply.

Museum Of Richmond

13th to 16th February, 10.00am-12.00pm: Victorian Decoupage Workshops at the Museum Of Richmond, Whittaker Avenue in Richmond. Discover more about the delightful craft of decoupage and create your own example to take home. For ages 5-11yrs. £5.50 per child (adults free). Booking essential and can be done online.

Osterley Park

10th to 18th February, 10.00am-4.00pm: 50 Things To Do Before You’re 11¾ at Osterley Park & House, Jersey Road in Isleworth. There’s always something exciting to do in nature whatever the weather’s doing, so Osterley is launching its re-designed ’50 things to do before you’re 11¾’ trail. Build a den, hunt for bugs or go on a long bike ride, it’s up to you what adventure you choose. Time to get those wellies and waterproofs on… Normal admission charges apply.

Squires Garden Centre

12th to 16th February, 10.00am-4.00pm: ‘Create & Grow’ half-term event at Squires Garden Centre, Sixth Cross Road in Twickenham. Children can get busy this half term and paint a beautiful bee which can be used as a plant pot or pen holder (£4.50). There will also be a FREE colouring competition and garden treasure hunt where you will receive a sticker and the chance to win a prize! Drop-in events, while stocks last.

Watermans

12th to 17th February, various times. Half term entertainment at Watermans, High Street in Brentford. As well as their children’s theatre show ‘Bear & Butterfly’ and family cinema shows ‘Paddington 2’ and ‘Ferdinand’, there will be family workshops including making a Giant Butterfly, screen printing on t-shirts and a Woodland Discovery musical adventure. Best Tennis

For children aged 3 to 14 years.

These camps take place at Old Deer Park Tennis Courts, Pools On The Park, Twickenham Road in Barnes, and at Hampton Sports Centre, Hampton High School, Hanworth Road in Hampton. They offer fun packed tennis camps with a combination of technical learning, matchplay and games. Older children can book the whole day, which will include tennis with netball. Player to coach ratios are always kept low.

The camps take place between 12th – 16th February, with different time slots for different ages groups. The camps cost £15.00-£60.00 per day depending on age and length of session, with a discount available for booking the whole week. You can book via their website.

Boundless Dance

For children aged 5 to 16 years.

These ‘Musical Madness’ workshops take place at Hampton Hill Theatre, 90 High Street in Hampton Hill. The workshops are fun-filled and cater for all abilities. They focus on developing your child’s aptitude in the three main genres of performance – acting, dancing and singing – and are run by professional west-end practitioners.

Camp England

For children from 5 to 16 years old.

These camps are held at NPL Tennis Club, Queens Road in Teddington and at Hampton School, Hanworth Road in Hampton. At Teddington, children can choose from tennis or multi-sports camps with lots of activities to choose from. At Hampton, there are tennis camps to give children the opportunity to make lots of friends and make rapid progress with their game.

The camps take place weekdays between 12th – 16th February, from 10.00am-4.00pm (tennis) or 8.30am-4.30pm (multi-sports). The daily cost is £29.95, with a discount available for booking a week. You can book via their website.

Collis Activity Camp

For children in Reception up to Year 8.

These camps are held at Collis School, Fairfax Road in Teddington. Children can participate in a wide range of  fun activities, including  assault courses, cooking, computing, bouncy castles, crazy golf, go carting, dodge ball, swimming, carnival plus lots more!

The camps take place between 12th – 16th February, from 9.00am-5.00pm with the option to extend from 8.30am-6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £38.00, with a discount available for booking a week. You can book via their website.

Fit For Sport

For children aged 4 to 12 years.

These camps takes place at Orleans Primary School, Hartington Road in Twickenham, Barnes Primary School, Cross Street in Barnes, Sheen Mount Primary School in West Temple Sheen, and Meadlands Primary School, Broughton Avenue in Ham. They are a great way for children to keep active, have fun, make new friends, try something new and take part in a whole range of activities and sports.

The camps take place between 12th – 16th February, from 9.30am-4.30pm with the option to extend from 8.30am-5.30pm (Twickenham / East Sheen / Ham) or 8.00am-6.00pm (Barnes), and with a half day option for younger children from 9.30am-1.00pm. The basic daily cost is £22.00-£32.00 (£16.50-£24.00 for a half-day), depending on location. You can book via their website.

Happy Potter

For children aged 6+ years

These workshops take place at Happy Potter, Broad Street in Teddington. Children will enjoy 1.5hrs of fun and creative activities including a Pancake Day workshop on Tuesday; Valentine’s Day workshop on Wednesday; and a clay workshop on Thursday.

The workshops take place on 13th – 15th February, from 11.00am-12.30pm. The cost is £20.00 per child including lunch. You can book online.

KOOSA Kids

For children aged 4 to 13 years.

These camps take place at Orleans Park School, Richmond Road in Twickenham; Teddington Sports Centre, Broom Road in Teddington; Whitton Sports Centre, Percy Road in Whitton; and Shene Sports Centre, Park Avenue in East Sheen. This half-term the children will be off on an adventure into outer space… get ready for aliens, space ships, planets, asteroids and all your other space favourites!

The camps take place between 12th – 16th February, from 10.00am-4.00pm, with the option to extend from 8.15am-6.00pm. The basic daily cost is £20.00, with a discount available for booking the whole week. If you have three children, the 3rd child goes absolutely free! Lions Sports Academy

For boys and girls aged 6 to 14 years.

These camps take place at Teddington Rugby Club. Children will enjoy rugby coaching led by professionals with a friendly and personal approach, who will also cover subjects such as speed decision making, technical & tactical skills, basic nutrition principles, and confidence.

The camps take place between 12th – 14th February from 9.00am-4.00pm. The camps cost £42.00 per day or £114.00 for all three days. You can book online.

The Little Gym Chiswick

For children aged 3 to 12 years.

These camps take place at The Little Gym, Hartington Road in Chiswick (just off the A316). They include super quest camps for 3-8yrs, full of exciting creative missions that will exercise muscle, imaginations and cooperation skills; fun skill thrill camps for 5-12yrs that will take your child’s gymnastic skills to the next level; as well as dance camps (3-12yrs) and karate camps (4-12yrs).

The Little Gym Hampton & Teddington

For children aged 3 to 12 years.

These camps take place at The Little Gym, High Street in Hampton Hill. The camps combine fun, sport, creative activities and learning to keep your kids active, entertained and laughing. Themed sessions change every week and stimulate physical and motor-skill development with games and gymnastics.

The camps take place between 12th – 16th February, from 9.30am-12.30pm (3-8yrs) and from 1.30-4.30pm (5-12yrs), with the option to extend to include lunch, or to stay for the whole day. The cost is £36.00 for non-members or £32.00 for members. To book, call 020 8977 0099.

Little Star Writing

For children aged 7 to 11 years.

These writing retreats take place at St Mary’s University, Waldegrave Road in Twickenham. They are for all aspiring authors and reluctant writers, and include a variety of writing games, worksheets, challenges, group-work, presentations, plus lots of fun and laughter!

Mad Science

For children aged 4 to 11 years.

These camps take place at Chiswick Community School, Burlington Lane in Chiswick (just off the A316). Children will explore a different topic each day, with unique hands-on activities and amazing demos by skilled trained instructors – the perfect way to awaken children’s interest in the wonder and magic of science, sparking their imaginations and having fun at the same time.

Marble Hill Playcentres

For children aged 5 to 11 years.

These camps take place at Marble Hill Playcentres, Richmond Road in Twickenham. They offer small groups of children the chance to explore the Playground with the support of experienced playworkers. In addition to all of the large structures, there will also be a theme each day around the outdoors – building fires, being creative and getting messy. Orleans House Gallery

For children aged 4 to 8+ years.

These workshops take place at Orleans House Gallery, Riverside in Twickenham. They offer a number of full and half day workshops, working with different artists specialising in a variety of techniques and materials.

The workshops take place between 13th – 16th February, with full day workshops from 10.00am-3.00pm and short workshops from 10.00am-12.00pm or 2.00-4.00pm. The cost for a full day workshop is £31.00 and a short workshop is £13.50. You can book online.

Playball

For children aged 3 to 9 years.

These camps take place at the Olympus Gym & Squash Club, Kew Foot Road in Richmond, and at Stanley Primary School, Strathmore Road in Teddington. They are filled with fantastic age-specific sports games, skills and drills, including wildly creative warm ups, sport skill sessions, team building activities and games.

The camps take place between 12th – 14th February, from 10.00am-1.00pm. The daily cost is £25.00, with siblings discounts available. You can book via their website.

Scamps Holiday Club

For children aged 3 to 12 years.

These camps take place at Scamps, Strathmore Road in Teddington. They offer a fun filled experience, with activities changed daily with over 200 different ideas, games and experiences which are guaranteed to keep your children amused, stimulated and happy all day long.

The camps take place between 12th – 16th February, with six differently timed sessions available between the hours of 8.00am-6.00pm. Sheen Parks Tennis

For children aged 3 to 14 years.

These camps take place at Palewell Common and Sheen Common in East Sheen; Westerly Ware by Kew Green; and Cambridge Gardens, Clevedon Road in East Twickenham. These fun packed holiday camps are for children of all abilities to help develop essential tennis skills.

The camps take place between 12th – 16th February, from 9.00-9.30am for tots (3/4yrs) and from 9.30am-12.30pm for juniors (5-14yrs). Tots camps cost £8.25 per day, and junior camps cost £27.00 per day, with a discount available for booking the whole week. You can book online.

Springboard Swimmers

For children aged 3 to 7 years.

These intensive courses take place at Stanley School, Strathmore Road in Teddington, where there is a learner pool of constant 1m depth. They are aimed at non-swimmers and beginners; children needing stroke improvement. If you haven’t done a holiday intensive course before, you will be amazed at how much progress is made in one week!

The intensive courses take place between 12th – 16th February, with a half-hour slot at the same time each day, with the same tutor and the same group of three children. Teddington Hockey Academy

For children aged

These camps take place at Teddington Hockey Club at Teddington School, Broom Road in Teddington. Improve your skills in a fun environment.

The camps takes place between 12th – 14th February, from 9.30am-12.15pm, from 12.30-3.30pm, or from 9.00am-3.30pm. The cost is £25.00 per half-day or £45.00 per day. You can book online.

Thames Young Mariners Adventure Zone

For children from 6 to 13 years.

These camps take place at Thames Young Mariners, Riverside Drive in Ham. There are Young Explorers camps for 6/7yrs focussing on different team challenges through the week, and Multi-Activity Adventures for 8-13yrs, with activities such as archery, climbing, team tasks and woodland skills.

We Make Footballers

For children aged 5 to 12 years.

These camps take place at St Mary’s University, Teddington Lock Campus. The camps are tailored according to the varying children’s ages and abilities who attend, whether they want to have fun and learn some basics or seriously develop their skills.

The camps take place between 12th – 16th February, from 10.00am-3.00pm. The camps cost £27.00 per day with a discount available for booking the whole week. You can book online.

Wild Education

For children aged 5 to 11 years.

This two-day camps takes place in the woods by Orleans House Gallery (meet at the car park). Children will have a ‘wild’ time having fun, making new friends, learning life skills and being out in the fresh air getting muddy!

The two-day camp takes place on the 12th & 13th February, from 10.00am-2.00pm. The cost is £60.00 for both days. You can book online.

YMCA Hawker Play Schemes

For children aged 4 to 8 years.

These play schemes takes place at YMCA Hawker, Lower Ham Road (junction with Richmond Road) in Kingston. Children will have lots of fun both indoors and outdoors as well as enjoying trips to the park, walks along the river and playing in the soft play facilities.

The play scheme takes place between 12th – 16th February, from 8.30am-6.00pm. The daily cost is £30.00, with Wednesday (trip day) costing £40.00. You can book by calling 020 8296 9747.
