Ever since we started publishing our guides to kids classes in the area, lots of mums have said “What about us?”! Well here’s our attempt at putting together a directory of classes and activities for mums in the area. This list is by no means exhaustive, and is based on recommendations from other mums. Blackbird Bread

Blackbird BreadBlackbird Bread is a micro bakery based in Twickenham, baking for friends, neighbours and local markets. They also offer baking classes from the Church Street Food Hall in Twickenham, including beginners classes, Italian themed workshops, seasonal classes, sweetened dough, beer bread and reduced gluten classes. Body Boot Camp

Body Boot Camp is a ladies-only, fun workout on Twickenham Green, with nutrition tips for a healthy life. Classes take place early in the morning Mondays to Thursdays, run by personal trainer Karen Pearce. For more information, take a look at her Facebook page.

Breathing & Laughter Workshop

Nargis Ahmed is a cranial osteopath based in Teddington, offering treatments that aim to calm both the body and the mind, promoting health in babies, children and adults. She also runs a group on most Monday mornings at the Langdon Down Centre in Teddington, where people of all ages can destress with a breathing and laughter workshop. A fabulous way to start the week! Buggyfit

BuggyfitBuggyfit is the well-established outdoor workout programme for new mums who want to get back into shape after giving birth, where babies are welcome too. Locally, classes take place in Bushy Park, Marble Hill Park and Osterley Park, and usually involve a power walk or run, and group exercises selected to strengthen and tone particular muscle groups. The Cake Box, Hampton

The Cake Box in Hampton offers a huge variety of cake and cupcake decorating courses. Whether you want to learn how to create sugar paste flowers, 2D or 3D models, how to decorate a gift cake or make your cupcakes look amazing, then there will be a specialist workshop for you. They also run 5 week cake, cupcake and cookie decorating courses, which cater for all levels from beginners to advanced. For more information, take a look at their website.

For Baby & Me

For Baby & Me offers natural nurturing for babies and mums – baby massage, baby yoga, maternity reflexology and antenatal courses. Baby massage and baby yoga have a variety of benefits, stimulating yet soothing, and strengthening the bond between mum and baby. Classes run over four to five weeks in Isleworth and St Margaret’s. Hampton Pool

Hampton PoolHampton Pool offers outdoor swimming 365 days a year in a heated pool on a gorgeous woodland site. Classes for adults run on Monday and Wednesday evenings during term-time, and are suitable for beginners, improvers and the more advanced. Landmark Arts Centre 

The Landmark Arts Centre holds a wide variety of adult courses and one-off workshops, including embroidery, creating children’s books, illustration, drawing, painting, knitting, crochet, photography, needlework, music, singling, tap, yoga, hula hooping, tai chi, pilates, wine tasting, and a book club. Little Love Yoga

Mum & baby yoga classes from two months postnatal in St Margarets and Hampton Hill. No experience is necessary and babies are included in the classes with scientific but fun developmental moves… even lovely gentle massages to start. Love Yoga London

One-to-one and groups yoga classes, including pregnancy yoga classes in Twickenham and Isleworth. Pregnancy yoga classes can help with common pregnancy conditions, prepare for labour and giving birth, and even help with postnatal recovery. For more information, take a look at their website.

NCT Relax Stretch & BreatheYoga-based classes run by an NCT antenatal teacher, designed to help you get the most out of your pregnancy and meet other local pregnant mums. NCT Mother & Baby Yoga

These classes provide a wonderful opportunity for new mothers to ease their way back into exercise after the birth of a baby. Discover how yoga can help you stretch, strengthen and tone your body. Nicola Howarth Pilates & BarreConcept

Nicola provides private lessons and group mat work pilates classes, including pregnancy classes, in St Margaret’s on Mondays and Wednesdays. BarreConcept incorporates the precision of pilates with the positions, moves, grace and technique of ballet. Classes take place in Twickenham on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Saturdays. Perform Pilates

Sports Centres

We have a few sports centres in the area – in Whitton, Teddington and Hampton. These all have adult programmes offering a range of activities including trampolining, pilates, circuits, general fitness, badminton, roller, volleyball, yoga, spinning, zumba and more! St Margaret’s Physiotherapy Mum & Baby Pilates

St Margaret's Physiotherapy Mum & Baby PilatesSt Margaret’s Physiotherapy offers mum & baby classes on Wednesdays aimed at helping your physical and emotional postnatal recovery. Have fun with your new bundle of joy while you regain your fitness levels by strengthening, toning and stretching with pilates exercises. There are also some gentle exercises for babies. Teddington Pilates

Teddington Pilates is a dedicated space, fully equipped with the latest pilates apparatus and specialised machines. They give a high level of individual attention; sessions are taught either private (1 to 1) or through studio sessions (up to 4 to 1), and the apparatus are particularly helpful in rehabilitating injury, aiding specialised conditions and reaching specific training goals.
